Whether you’re looking to enhance your skills, explore emerging trends or build connections, AUA2025 is the place to be.AUA Office of Education Chair Jay D. Raman, MD
AUA Office of Education Chair Jay D. Raman, MD, offered AUA Daily News an exclusive look at what attendees can expect at this year’s annual meeting, starting with what he’s most excited about: expanding hands-on learning opportunities.
He said this year’s meeting introduces two innovative full-day hands-on skills trainings designed to offer practicing urologists a unique opportunity to expand their procedural skill set in a highly immersive, real-world environment. They are:
- Fundamentals of Prostate MRI and Transperineal Interventions (Friday, April 25) – Led by Drs. Arvin K. George and James Wysock, this program offers urologists fundamentals in MRI interpretation, segmentation, fusion-guided transperineal prostate biopsy and transperineal spacer techniques to apply to their practice.
- Masterclass: Renal Access and Interventions (Friday, April 25) – Under the leadership of Drs. Thomas Chi and Robert Sweet, this masterclass offers urologists skills in percutaneous renal access and image-guided renal interventions.
“These new programs reflect AUA’s commitment to cutting-edge, skill-based education, ensuring that participants leave not just informed but equipped to implement these techniques in their own clinical practice,” Dr. Raman said. “I encourage all urologists—whether experienced or early in their careers—to take advantage of these highly interactive learning opportunities at AUA2025.”
Hands-on skills trainings are held as part of the pre-meeting activities and are pre-registration only. Attendees will also gain access to a library of on-demand virtual didactics straight from the experts!
The hottest educational trend: Clinical Trials in Progress
Dr. Raman said AUA2025 also features the Clinical Trials in Progress program, an initiative aimed at increasing awareness of pivotal ongoing trials that could shape future urological practice. These trials will be showcased in the Learning Lab, adjacent to the Science & Technology Hall, offering attendees an exclusive look at emerging research and its potential clinical applications.
Practice-changing insights: P2 sessions
Among the most impactful sessions at AUA2025 will be the P2s: Practice-changing, Paradigm-shifting Clinical Trials in Urology, Dr. Raman said. These sessions feature groundbreaking studies—ranging from randomized clinical trials to prospective cohort studies—designed to directly influence everyday urological practice.
“P2s provide high-impact learning opportunities essential for staying at the forefront of the field,” he said.

For early-career urologists, AUA2025 offers invaluable opportunities to gain insight and mentorship. Dr. Raman recommends these don’t-miss opportunities:
