Urology Care Foundation lecture highlights contributions
Patient education, research funding and worldwide humanitarian efforts are at the core of the Foundation.
This year’s Urology Care Foundation Lecture, which takes place today 7:30-7:40 a.m. in the Stars at Night Ballroom, will look back at the contributions made by the Foundation to the urology profession, with a highlight on the Foundation’s achievements in supporting new researchers and the growth of humanitarian efforts around the world.
UCF President Harris Nagler, MD, FACS, said the lecture encapsulates the core mission of the Urology Care Foundation: advancing urological research and education to improve patient care and highlight the remarkable growth of the UCF’s humanitarian programs.
“Our support of research furthers our understanding and treatment of urological conditions, and improves urological health care,” Dr. Nagler said. “The support for early-career investigators and underrepresented groups in medicine is particularly important in fostering a diverse and dynamic field, ready to tackle current and future challenges in urology.”
The Foundation recently embarked on a mission to expand its humanitarian efforts in urology, Dr. Nagler explained.
“By showcasing our achievements in this area, we aim to inspire greater support for our three foundational pillars: patient education, research and humanitarianism,” he said. “The lecture will demonstrate how enhancing our humanitarian initiatives can significantly impact global health. I want people to see the real-world benefits of these efforts and be motivated to contribute, ensuring the sustainability and expansion of our program that addresses global health care needs.”
Dr. Nagler said those humanitarian efforts have seen significant growth in recent years through the establishment of new endowments, which are crucial for funding innovative solutions to health care challenges in areas that are most in need.
“This strategic expansion not only broadens the impact of our work globally, but also emphasizes our commitment to addressing health disparities and enhancing the quality of life for underserved populations,” he said. “This initiative is a key example of how targeted funding and resource allocation can lead to sustainable improvements in global health landscapes.”
