It’s the final rundown!
Round out AUA2024 with Key Takeaways from across the meeting.
As sessions wind down today, be sure to stick around for lunch, final connections with colleagues and, most importantly, the Key Takeaways session. This year’s concluding event, which reviews the top poster and podium presentations throughout the meeting, will introduce a new format—though some attendees may find it familiar.
“To some degree, it is based on the classic ‘journal club’ format that many of us were exposed to in our residency,” said AUA Secretary David F. Penson, MD, MPH. “In this setting, the junior urologist presents the study, a discussion ensues and input of the senior urologists is solicited.”
The fresh approach creates opportunities for rising providers and physician experts to examine certain studies in their area of interest and provide greater insight into their work.
“This session will be more conversational, with experts, which will provide more color and context to the great science that’s coming out of AUA2024,” said Melissa K. Goodman, CMP, DES, AUA director of Annual Meeting Programs, Convention + Meetings.
Goodman said Key Takeaways offers attendees the opportunity to catch up on abstracts and topics they may have missed over the four-day event. Dr. Penson, along with other AUA leaders, will select the most compelling and relevant content to showcase—akin to CliffsNotes Study Guides.
“One of my goals as secretary is to make the meeting more accessible and interactive for all,” Dr. Penson said. “I think this back-and-forth format will be a lot more interesting and engaging for the audience, and hopefully will bring more value to our members.”
The culminating overview of important and impactful urological topics can be a memorable finale for members, said Dr. Penson. If attendees are unable to join in person, he recommends catching the on-demand recording that will be available after the meeting.
