A Welcome Reception is being hosted in honor of the 2018-2019 AUA Leadership Program class from 6:30-8 pm on Saturday, May 19, during the Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California. Attendance at the reception is by invitation only.
In the last 14 years the Leadership Program has become a highly sought after experience for members who are interested in pursuing leadership positions at the AUA. To date, 127 members have participated in the program. Although only 20 spots are available every other year, more than 60 highly qualified members applied this year, making the selection process very competitive. Applicants must be American Board of Urology (or equivalent) certified urologists and must have been in practice for no more than 15 years. Graduates of the AUA Leadership Program have gone on to serve in key leadership positions at the Section level and at the AUA.
Following the Welcome Reception in San Francisco, the Leadership Program participants will meet July 13-15 at AUA Headquarters for a Leadership Training Weekend to learn about AUA governance and operations, develop leadership skills through interactive presentations and discussions with a reputable faculty, and network and learn from their mentors. The program also provides a venue for participants to form valuable peer relationships.
In March 2019 the Leadership Class will attend the Annual Urology Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., to learn how to advocate on behalf of the specialty. The program concludes with a graduation ceremony during the 2019 AUA Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
