The topic for this year’s Young Urologists (YU) Forum at the AUA2018 is Sea of Change: Navigating the Turbulent Health Care Environment. The forum will take place from 10:30 am–Noon on Monday, May 21, in Room 215 of Moscone South.
Given the uncertainty of the health care system, it is important for young urologists to understand how they can let their voices heard on policy issues and legislation that could adversely affect their patients and practice. Drs. Christopher Gonzalez and David Penson will lead this interactive discussion on the importance of health policy and advocacy as it relates to the profession of urology. Both work closely with the AUA Government Relations and Advocacy team to ensure that urologists maintain a seat at the table on matters of legislation and policy.
Dr. Gonzalez is chair of the Department of Urology at UH Cleveland Medical Center and currently serves as chair of the AUA Public Policy Council. Dr. Penson is a past AUA G. James Gallagher Health Policy Scholar and currently serves as chair of the Department of Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The Young Urologists Forum is sponsored by the AUA Young Urologists Committee, and anyone interested in this program is welcome to attend. This event is free with your Annual Meeting registration and a boxed lunch will be served. However, space is limited and attendees are encouraged to register in advance by visiting www.AUA2018.org/YUForum.
Getting involved early is the first step in becoming an agent of change for you and your colleagues. We hope to see you there!
